Date Reviewed: July 2, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $4.00
Purchased At:Mountain Equipment Co-op
Strengths:30 spins of the crank = shiny new chain!
Weaknesses:stinks like every other mineral based cleaner. Leaves nasty stains if you spill grunged up cleaner on carpet, lino, concrete...
Bike Setup:Cannondale Jekyll 500, Marin Palisades Trail
Bottom Line:I used this stuff together with a cheap-assed $4 chain cleaner device on a pair of chains. It cleaned off the oil and mud on my new Jekyll no sweat. The Shimano chain on the Marin was about 10 years old and totally gunked up with oily dirt and crap (like molasses). 30 spins on the crank and you could see shiny grey on the chain (along with a few rust spots). Excellent chain cleaner, but i'd STRONGLY recommend you get a chain cleaning tool with those little brushes... this stuff looks nasty to try and scrub on by hand.

Date Reviewed: November 3, 2000
Favorite Trail:KATY in MO
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $5.00
Purchased At:Touring Cyclist, Fairview Hgts IL
Strengths:Cleans very well. Doesn't mare the paint on aluminum or carbon fiber frames.
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Simple Green. Kerosene.
Bike Setup:Trek 5200 with a triple.
Bottom Line:Great stuff when used with a cleaning tool so you don't need to break and remove the chain. It does a good job of removing grit and grim plus leave a little lubricant when it drys. Also can be used to degrease other parts off the bike. Any drips wipe right off the frame and I've never noticed any paint discoloration which was my big worry on a carbon fiber frame.

Favorite Trail:
El Prieto
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Cleans great!
Weaknesses:
None
Similar Products Used:
Simple Green, Pedros.
Bike Setup:
Shimano chains, Park Chaincleaner gizmo
Bottom Line:I got the Park Chain Gang after my Pedros broke. I used the Chainbrite on a couple of chains, and got one of them absolutely clean (a first!). The other chain needs more cleaning, as it's a LOT dirtier. I'm really impressed with how well it cleaned.
And it's Biodegradable, which is good for mother earth.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:
mineral spirit based
Bottom Line:very good all in one cleaner/lube/protector
Overall Rating:4
