Think of the TriNewt as the MiNewt’s big brother, with a look and design every bit as unique and striking as the MiNewt. The TriNewt incorporates a cluster of 3 high-powered LED’s to achieve a retina searing output of 500 lumens! No ‘off the shelf’ optics are used in the TriNewt. Instead, the 3 high-powered LED’s are housed in a custom made reflector designed specifically with cycling in mind. The result is a beam pattern ideal for night riding. Like all NiteRider LED lighting systems, the TriNewt uses a Borofloat lens to greatly minimize light loss and maximize light output, when compared to a traditional glass lens or total internal reflector. New Gimbal Style mounts are used for handlebar and helmet mounting.

Strengths:
LED is the way to go. Better than HID. I have the wireless remote version. The light weighs the same as the non-wireless version (the wireless battery is what makes it remote, not the light).
Weaknesses:
As mentioned already, the bike mount is insufficient. Not much effort put into that part of the design. Come on Niterider, improve some of your older products, as well as come out with some new ones.
Bottom Line:
I highly recommend the remote wireless version. Mounting this light on the bike requires some ingenuity and fabrication to make up for the less than satisfactory 'rubber-band' mount.

Strengths:
pretty light weight.great beam pattern .Bright white LED beam is better than the classic but not much brighter .The burn time rocks. No more carrying extra batteries.
Weaknesses:
cheesy mounting bracket like a big rubber band . a pain in the U know what to get on oversize bars.

Bottom Line:
the burn time alone makes this light worth buying. I wouldnt say it's much brighter that the classic but somehow the beam lights the trail up with more definition.and the periferal outside area is lit up better with the usual sweet spot in the middle.

Strengths:
The Li-Ion battery is very light and I can get 2 rides on one charge using the high beam, the color of the light is a strong white color with a great hot spot. also the light comes on immediately rather than a warm up and sometimes a power reset needed for some HID lights.
Weaknesses:
DO NOT BUY THE WIRELESS VERSION. I had purchased the wireless model because the dealer sold me the light at the "wired" price. I think the main purpose of the wireless was for users that want to use it for a helmet mount. But the light is too heavy to use on your helmet, for me I am mostly a downhill rider and any movement to my helmet is a dangerouse distraction, here is the major contradiction: the system would not have to be wireless if the light switch was mounted on the light head itself rather than on the battery. another consideration is that the RF unit for the wireless is in the battery itself, which means that a battery replacement will cost you $250.00, The mount for the light unit is basically a giant rubber band not what i would expect for a $500.00 light. where do the niterider engineers get their feedback?? also the battery level indicator is a color code of blue:meaning a strong battery and Red: meaning a battery on low capacity, but after that the light will just SHUT OFF, Not a safe situation on a fast downhill single track!!

Bottom Line:
I am keeping this light because i am a true believer in LED type technology. the TRINEWT is a great light Just make sure you buy the Wired version, and hope they change the rubber band mount and develop a better low battery warning system.
