Bottom Line:When I first purchased this light I reviewed it as having some minor manufacturing defects. Now after a year of light use it is no longer working. The switch has a problem and will never shut off.THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE THE WORST MADE BICYCLE LIGHT I HAVE OWNED IN 30 YEARS OF CYCLING.

Date Reviewed: July 30, 2008
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $135.00
Strengths:Bright for the price.
Weaknesses:Threads for the battery are hard to line up and mfg. burrs on threads make installation harder than it should be (Made in China). Have to unscrew battery every time you charge it.Light beam is a little narrow for my taste.
Similar Products Used:Light in Motion Vega
Bike Setup:Road Bike
Bottom Line:Works OK for the money.I would feel better about long term reliability if the threads worked better or you could recharge it with out having to unscrew the battery.

Strengths:Cable Free Attachment
Hand Torch Convertible
Super Solid Construction and High Quality Finish
Very bright for a single 4watt LED, Flash mode is diabolical makes you highly visible in traffic
Street signs flash back you at 200 meters, I have even used the light in overcast daylight conditions in heavy traffic and have noticed street signs flashing back at me this thing got some serious intensity.
Upgradeable runtime - can use 2 larger spec batteries with it if I want longer runtime but for my daily commute the standard run time is fine.
Helmet mountable with the use of an additional helmet bracket and extension lead
Low battery warning is shown through a quick pulse of the headlight output this increases in frequency the closer you get to the automatic turn off point apparently is shut downs with 10% of battery in reserve to ensure you don’t over discharge the battery cell – It’s a little odd the first time this happens but you quickly get use to it and the good thing as the warning cant be missed even when your helmet mounting.
It’s been completely trouble free quoted runtime of 2hours seems to be about dead on its recharged constantly in the 4hours, the charger doesn’t seem to get noticeably hot which is reassuring, the charge indication light built into the battery shines out the bottom of the stick battery Orange when charging and Green when charged this has been good as you know where you are with charge capacity all the time.

Since the purchase I keep handy charging on the kitchen bench I have used many times already for work around the house or on the car - I always have bright reliable hand torch ready to go now.

Weaknesses:Solid construction gives it some weight but its strong I think I you could park a 4x4 on it and not put a dent in it, Beam pattern could be wider for off-road use but it fine as helmet mount - but considered the intended use of the product commuting the beam is perfect.

Bottom Line:
Great versatility, outstanding build quality great illumination for a single LED.

Who should buy it - Commuters, Road Cyclists and budding MTB's.

The cable free aspect of the product is great it makes quick training rides and commutes so much easier.

How much illumination well I can use my road bike as fast as I want 50km plus down hill no street lights and there still is a comfortable amount of illumination to feel safe and in control, the center spot is intense and white which means that road obstructions no matter how small don’t go unnoticed this is pretty valuable when you a riding on skinny road tires.
