Strengths:    Bright lights, when working. Lithium battery system was supposed to last a long time.

Weaknesses:    Mysterious shorts. Blew an HID bulb at about 1 month.

    Bottom Line:
Shoddy workmanship. Exorbitant prices. I'm embarrassed that I paid so much for this junk. We sprang for the lithium batteries, fast chargers, and strobe lights. All of that drove the price over $500. I don't have the receipt at hand, but with tax and shipping, 2 systems cost over $1100.

I bought a pair of these systems, for myself, and my wife. After less than a month, the system on my bike started shorting out. There was no visible damage to the wiring harness. It blew the HID bulb. I sent the whole system in for repair, and it took a month to get it back. We switched to Night Rider systems, and put the Nightsun stuff back on the shelf. Recently, I was planning on putting Nightsun on our commuter bikes, thinking that they might perform better in an environment less prone to shock and vibration. In dealing with their customer service, I got some real attitude, and even had some pejoratives thrown at me. I was trying to support an American company, but enough is enough. For the mountain bikes, we are going with Ay Up. For the commuter bikes, we are going with Trail Tech MR11 HID lamps, and sealed lead acid batteries. Both systems are in the $200 range.

Strengths:    Excellent mounting system, very bright light. The use of the dual HID/Halogen lights gives a great deal of redundancy. Solidly constructed. Folks at the factory were very knowledgeable and reliable. It would be hard to say anything negative about NightSun or their product.

    Weaknesses:    None noted.

    Bottom Line:
An outstanding light at a very reasonable price. Built like a tank. This is the light I would want to have on a long ride far from home.

Strengths:    the spARC is strong and crash proof. I have used nothing else but this system for the past year and it has never disappointed me. I have owned other systems from other companies and has nothing but problems. I would recommend

    Bottom Line:
Awesome. Dependable. Buy this light if you want a good light that won't fail you.
Buy it if you want to get home from that scary night ride!
