Strengths:
great light for me when i need to get home in the dark. every one can see me. great 2.5 hour battery life.the battery pack doesn't take up the space of ur water bottle holder.
Weaknesses:
the light unit get's hot even after 15 min of use. so i advise keeping your bike glove's on when removing the light or turning it off. the wire for the battery pack to the light is some what stiff in the cold if u ever ride on those cold spring/fall nights.

the bottomn line is the light has its advantages and it's disadvantages. love the way the battery sits on the fram. and it's very light weight

Strengths:
cheap. Battery can be picked up at any place that carries them. Not much electronics, so nothing much to go wrong
Weaknesses:
clip for light is weak. One smack to the tree and thats it.

ok. Don't spend more than 100 bucks though. Can get HID for about 200 if you shop around (they claim 4 hours of burn time). No more than 45 minutes of burn time on these lights

Price is better than most. All these lights are overpriced. My sla battery died after a while. I picked up a similar battery from a battery specialty store for $7 Can. I got one with a higher mA so it should last about 20% longer.
Bottom Line:
I recommend getting one of these instead of splurging for one of the Nickl Cad/Hydride batteries systems. The expensive batteries will cost you $100 to replace. I picked up my replacement SLA battery for $7. SLA batteries may be heavier but require lower maintenance.
$140 or so less $7 for the battery. That means that we are paying $130 +- for a little lamp with a switch and a dc adapter. What a joke. Product works great though.

Strengths:
very bright, nice and white I hate those blue lights. good burn time as well.
Weaknesses:
none so far, well the battery is kind of heavy but if you stick it in A hydropack then you don't even notice it. but other than that there is no weeknesses

Strengths:
Fantasically powerful, neat lamp and waterproof easy to use switch. Battery pack heavy, but very easy to mount on a pack etc. Easy charging and decent plug terminals.
Weaknesses:
Low burn time - only managed 45mins in my case - less than half the manufacturers claimed burn time. This may have been a faulty battery though. Clumsy helmet strap is poor compared to that of the previous model.

Easy to use and powerful hemet lamp (once you've battled with the helmet strap) but beware of low burn times. Despite the problems I liked this lamp.

Strengths:
Nice white light. Helmet strap makes sense once you figure it out. Only light needed for a night ride
Weaknesses:
Heavy SLA battery, but what do you expect for the price. I had to scratch my head to figure out the helmet strap placement but I finally figured it out. Battery life isn't great, but it does last as long as the company claims. About 1hr40 min. If you want something that last's longer get the NH-45 version with the "smart" NiMh battery.

Bottom Line:
The quality of the bulb is really good. Nice solid white light. I rented one at the 2002 Chico 24hr close to Toronto and I was really impressed so I ended up buying it. The helmet light is sufficiently bright that you don't need a complimentary bar-mounted light for most x-country stuff. I highly recommend it for the price. Lead acid batteries are a bit heavy but you can charge them whenever you want and they're cheap. I hear that "smart" NiHh batteries can sometimes go wacky and switch to "low output" mode even it they're charged. The SL42 works very well for the occasional short night ride. If you're planning on doing a 24hr the battery is only good for one lap (they'll fade out on the second lap!), unless the event organizers have BLT speed chargers, the purchase of a second battery would be a wise move.
