Submitted by Marc a Racer from Bend, OR
Date Reviewed: April 18, 2005
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:Tantalus
Strengths:Simple, light-weight, water resistant
Weaknesses:Inconsistent, unreliable, bad reception
Similar Products Used:Polar 725
Bottom Line:This thing has been flaky from day one. The only time it works well is on hot days where you're really working up a sweat. On training rides on cool days it maybe works 10% of the time. Then again on a hot race day or in the gym it will work close to 100% of the time. Get anywhere near power lines and reception gets screwed up. It was extremely frustrating to use. Finally I broke down and spent $400 on a Polar system - omg what a difference ! So if you live on the equator, or like to slather your chest with conductive gel, you might enjoy the PC800. Otherwise if you want consistency and accuracy in a HRM, steer clear.

Date Reviewed: November 16, 2004
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $29.00
Purchased At:performance
Strengths:It Does what you need it to do. It is easy to use, has a very easily read display and all the basic functions a good HRM needs.
Weaknesses:No backlight, but I don't ride at night so that is ok with me.
Similar Products Used:polar hrm
Bike Setup:specialized epic
Bottom Line:Good HRM for the price. If you need a basic HRM this one will work well and fit the budget.
