Bottom Line:
Sigma watch has a very poor quality. I bought I PC7 one year ago and the first time I put it under the shower it stops working (it was supposed to be 3m water resistance). I sent to sigma and I have to pay for all transport expenses from (From China to Brazil).After 1 years the battery is down and the back is rusty (I have a 10 year old Casio watch that is used is swimming and does not have any rusty).
Don't recommend Sigma watches.

Strengths:
Cheap, works most of the time, durable, batteries are easy to replace
Weaknesses:
Quite often shows wrong results, easily interferes with similar devices or other signals, averages measurements over too long a time period (5s? maybe even longer)

Bottom Line:
Thats probably one of the cheapest devices on the market but it still offers relatively good price/performance ratio.
It is no good for a systemic, carefully planned training routine, but good enough for your casual workout. It is durable, and easily survived more than 3 years of abuse in various conditions. Sometimes shows wrong results (like you go from 160bpm to 80bpm in an instant, or, worse, something like 130bpm when its not that easy to say its an error). Thats exactly what I suffered with 10x more expensive Polar gear.
If you just want to check your pulse every now and then and can get it for less than $30, it is relatively ok. For anything more serious go buy Garmin, at roughly $100 thats a steal. Forget Polar, it offers no better reliability than this $30 HRM and will cost you an arm and a leg...

Strengths:
Well made, comfortable chest strap, replaceable batteries in transmitter. Nice appearance.
Weaknesses:
The beeps made when you are below or above the target range are very quiet and only sound every 5 seconds or so. I have to keep looking at the HRM to see if I am in the correct zone. No backlight.

Broke afer 2 months during a particularly hard windsurf session .... it said it wasnt waterproof but I had to see what wavesailing did for you. (170 max and about 140 most of the time) Very basic but seems to be accurate. Just some errors in jogging at certain speed where your arm goes behind for part of transmission so display read 64 instead of 128. Must be combo of HR and arm speed?
