Date Reviewed: November 16, 2007
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:Prety reliable, easy to use, and comfortable.
Weaknesses:It is a basic HRM with a programmable HR zone. It does not have multi-zone capability. Also the user has to know how to claculate their own HR zones.
Similar Products Used:None.
Bike Setup:Trek 1500 aan old Trek 930
Bottom Line:Compared to what is out there now, this model is very basic. The newer models have many more features. It has worked well, but look to other models for more features. This is more of a beginner model. Overall good product.

Date Reviewed: September 28, 2003
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $54.00
Purchased At:Supergo
Strengths:Simple functions, easy to read display and reliable. This unit is a basic heart rate monitor, does one thing and does it well.
Weaknesses:A faster readout refresh rate would be nice. At the top of a hard climb the monitor sez my HR is cruising but my body feels like it is going to explode. Then on the way down when the worst is over and I've already recovered a bit, the HRM then tells me my HR is over the top. But other than that, no complaints.

Bike Setup:GT Zaskar LE - XTR/XT Rock Shox SID Race forks.
Bottom Line:Simple is good. The Target does exactly that - helps you to keep focusing on riding and not worrying about which bell or whistle is up. The unit is easy to setup and use. If you are looking for good solid heart rate metering to help get your basic training on track, this one's for you. The type who needs lots of bells and whistles won't be interested in this one.
