Date Reviewed: November 20, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $430.00
Purchased At:pacdesigns.com
Strengths:the best messenger bag available, period.
Weaknesses:you will have to be patient while pat makes one and ships it.
Similar Products Used:chrome, timbuk2, chicagowig, crumpler, under the weather, bailey works, reload.
Bike Setup:one speed only, fixed and free
Bottom Line:pat makes the best bags you can buy. if you are a fan of mess bags you want one of these. you will have to wait and be patient because you are buying hand made quality not mass produced sweat shop crap. if you are into instant gratification call pat and see what she has in stock, but i would advise you order the color and size you want and buy as many add ons that you can afford (x-strap, belt, etc.) dont skrimp. remember you could carry one of these bags every day for the rest of your life and leave it to your kids, get what you want and wait an extra month. and give pat a break... so what if it takes awhile to get a bag, she makes the best. the price is high but as they say, you get what you pay for.

Date Reviewed: May 26, 2006
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $325.00
Purchased At:PAC designs
Strengths:Are there any? I wouldn't know.
Weaknesses:Production lead time, customer support.
Similar Products Used:Timbuk2
Bike Setup:DR-Z400SM
Bottom Line:I am incredibly dissapointed with my PAC bag. Why? I never got it! It seems Pat is quick to take your money and come up with excuses for why the bag isin't ready, but slow to deliver......in fact it's been six months so far. And still nothing. The only thing I've recieved for my money is excuses and one missed delivery date after another. Did I mention the first time I called to check on the bag (one week after the promised delivery date), she had lost my order and her record of the transaction? Thank god I keep my statements!

You have been warned! Be prepared to pay up front for a bag you may not see untill next year (if ever). Supposedly PAC designs may make an okay bag but their customer support is nonexistant, just like the bag I ordered.

Favorite Trail:Urban
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:280
Strengths:Heavy-duty bags, comfortable, however...
Weaknesses:See below.
Similar Products Used:Timbuk2 Dee Dog
Bike Setup:Ciocc track bike, suntour superbe groupo, Time ATACs,
Bottom Line:The bags rock, or so I thought until I had an extremely bad experience with Pac. The custom embroidery on my bag started to fray at multiple points, so I called Pat (owner). She said send it in. I did. She said she would repair one part, but I told her the problem has been getting worse and worse, and that I can't afford to keep sending the bag back for repairs: the flap should be swapped out. She said the image isn't "peeling off" so it isn't a problem. She eventually handed the phone to her husband, so he could "straighten this out." He proceeded to scream at me for about 20 minutes, saying "people like you" don't respect small businesses, don't respect his craft, etc. I never raised my voice, and told him I shouldn't be treated so horribly, and he said that he shouldn't have to deal with nuts like me.

The worst part of all this is that he said he didn't care if I told
other cyclists to not buy their bags, because they have so many customers it doesn't matter. No joke, he said that. He also said it's cheaper to have to occasionally deal with "people like you" rather than make a better-quality image.

The bags are amazing- best in the industry- but if you are unlucky enough to have a problem... you're out of luck. The bags are the most expensive out there, and I suggest thinking very critically about whether it's worth the risk.
