I have been using them to ride on the roads for the last few months (commuting to and from work) perfect for mtb or Hybrid ... they're light (weight,)compact, dont take up any valuble room on the handlebars, extremely bright; but best of all they have both front and rear lights in one. For ANYONE who rides on the roads - they are a must. they really make you feel safer because cars see them easily- as they are right on the end of your handlebars- and take a wide birth as a result! Battery life is good and they have been increadibly reliable even with the rough treatment I've dish out!
I'm amazed that its take someone until 2003 to come up with a saftey/flashing light as logical as these KNOG barend lights!

You've heard the old cliche, "Everything but the kitchen sink". Well, you can fit the kitchen sink in these. I've used the Jandd Mountain version, which is simply a smaller version. $229.00 | | Strengths: | Amazingly huge, insane # of pockets and options, detachable fanny pack, convienient to 'throw' things into (vis-a-vis pannier frame/shell), did I say amazingly huge??, overstockable, dual water bottles, the 800-pound gorilla of the mountain bag market.
| | Weaknesses: | Difficult to adjust once on, not the quickest to put on/remove if you want it to be really tight... but, as others have said, once it's on, it's on. Solidly.

They tough and very durable. I use Outdoor Research dry bags to seperate my stuff and keep it dry. | | Weaknesses: | Kind of hard to get on and off, but not enough to really complain about. I'd rather have them hard to get on and off rather than falling off on the road or trail. | | Bike Setup: | On a custom Seven Cycles steel Sola with S&S couplings and a Bruce Gordon rack. I have no heel clearance problem. | | Bottom Line: | If you want the biggest and the best, these are the panniers for you. I've used them in some crazy places - one being on remote trails in Borneo - and they worked great!Get 'em!

Sturdy construction--good, heavy nylon instead of the cheap packcloth often used for panniers

Heel clearance a problem unless you use their brand of rack (I did, so no problem there). | | Similar Products Used: | can't remember the names... | | Bike Setup: | Very old steel Rockhopper frame built up as drop-bar commuter/beater bike. Sees lots of ~15 mi round trip commuting duty with a variety of loads on crappy Appalachian backroads. | | Bottom Line: | Very well built pack/rack system. These are the ultimate panniers for loaded camping trips. You'll probably exceed the rack's weight rating before you run out of space. I'd compare these panniers to a Dana Terraplane backpack--rugged, efficient, and bombproof. Of course, these things are priced like a Terraplane, too. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

Cannondale F4000 with Delta floating rack | | Bottom Line: | To date, I've only used these Panniers on one 3 day trip. They performed wonderfully! Based on the obvious quality of these bags, I feel very confident submitting this review with such limited field time.Off hand the only possible change I would like to see is the ability to further reduce overall size of the bags for shorter trips. Currently only one side has a small zippered bag that converts to a fanny pack or removed. I'd like to see further refinement to allow greatere flexibility. But this doesn't alter my final rating in the least! A 5-star winner from me.
