Bottom Line:

I only bought this piece of plastic because it was on sale 50% off. It is difficult to attach and detach with my cables on the downtube. It also rubs the cables on the edge of the inadequate cable hole. When my wheel is turned the mudguard is completely useless. I guess it deserves one chili for not affecting my shifting too much. Someone needs to make an affordable fender that attaches to the fork crown. I have seen one at my LBS but it costs way too much ($50). Maybe within a year MTBers will have a real mudguard for the front wheel.

Bottom Line:

This is pretty much a useless accessory! I bought this since I wanted a fender to keep the dirt off my face, but front suspension just isn't conducive to fenders. It keeps a little bit of the mud off your down tube, but enough still kicks up to pretty much negate it's benefits. If anyone out there knows of good fenders which one can use up front on a suspended bike, please let me know. Zefal pretty much does enough in the rear, but I have yet to find something clever and adequate for up front.
