Strengths:    Great price, easy to set up!

Weaknesses:    None seen yet, will know more after my century this weekend...

Bottom Line:
Picked this up mostly due to the low price and having a multi-alt century coming up. Read the reviews on this site and and decided even if it was as bad as people said, $25 wasn't a bad price for an extra watch that looked cool! The set-up was quite easy, but being a techno-geek, it usually is. Once you stop trying to out-think the manual anyway...Will update this review after my ride!

Strengths:    Still works after 9 years!!

Bottom Line:
Simply you can buy this for $40 now, I bought it way back in 1998 for $140.

My 1998 model I wear daily, it works perfect, last changed battery 2 years ago and no other problem.

Strengths:    easy to figure out....when it works

Weaknesses:    TERRIBLE software issues and locks up forever.

Bottom Line:
Good thing I bought this at REI! I liked it when it worked, but I went through two of them before giving up. One worked for a couple of months before the display turned into hyroglyphics and locked up, the other one would just blank for awhile when I pushed certain buttons, then after a couple months just froze so it would only show two screens and the time could not even be set. And I pampered this altimeter so it wasn't treated rough. I would have put the chile count way up...if it WORKED.

Strengths:    1 meter/3 feet resolution is best in Alt watch's, help menus very easy to use onscreen (you have to be brain dead if you cannot set-up/use this watch), works great for ski and mtb riding. Service at Sports Instruments are great (Mr. Corless has helped me get a new watch band I broke).

Weaknesses:    My with list:
a) I wish I could switch resolution between 3 feet and 10 feet increments. Sometimes 3 feet is too sensitive and overestimates the trail total altitude.
b) Have the total Altitude tied into the watch timer function, so it only runs when you are using it as a timer.

Bottom Line:
Very satisfied, this watch is durable, looks good on you, and functions for both skiing (descending alt) and mtb riding (ascending alt).

Strengths:    Altitude calculated fast. Easy to replace battery.

Weaknesses:    Won't count ski runs as shown. Several hours to read/learn manual.

Bottom Line:
It is so difficult to learn that the manual actually has a help guide (you've got to see this). "Runs" function is not operating. No phone number to call for help. Web site has not rouble shooting guide.
