Product DescriptionYakima armed the Quick Back 2 Bike Rack with a labeled strap system, narrow arm design, fold-down arms, and an anti-sway system. Simply attach this rack to your trunk using the labeled straps, padded metal buckles, and tri-padded feet. Then load two bikes on and secure them in the SwitchBlade anti-sway cradle system. Weaknesses: The stabilizing cradle that touches the seat tube is WAY too narrow and will scratch your frame. a Cross Country Rider Date Reviewed: December 9, 2010 Strengths: goes on the car quickly, securely and with plush rubber bumpers to protect your car's paint. 2 straps to secure the bike top tube, one for the vertical tube... it's not coming off until you take it off. Weaknesses: yes it's heavy, but that means it's also durable. It is theft bait, can't leave it on the car while I ride! from Springfield MA, USA Date Reviewed: September 25, 2010 Strengths: The QuickBack is a heavy duty rack that weighs in at about 20lbs. Everything about it says quality construction. With its 6 straps bikes are secure and no doubt would stay that way even if a car were swerving in an emergency. It has a heavy duty security strap which after having a cheap Allen bike rack fail damaging our bikes, we now consider essential. Weaknesses: The QuickBack is needlessly heavy and expensive. The main weight baring straps are held in place on the rack only by spring loaded locks and I don't trust that arrangement. The security strap is poorly thought out and can only be used if already attached to rack! This means the trunk/hatch AND the rack have to be lifted together high enough for the security strap to fit in the space above the hatch/trunk which will then be closed providing an anchor. This is a two person job and even then the paint on my car was scratched. Because the security strap length is not adjustable if the weight baring straps failed the rack could fall… perhaps not to the ground, but no doubt it would bounce around damaging the car and bikes. Once inside a trunk, the anchor for the security strap could fall off rendering the strap useless and no one might know until it was too late. The QuickBack also says it can hold 3 bikes but the first position closest to the car was so close, the pedals would have scratched the car so only the outside two positions were useable. This rack is so expensive I fear it will be a target for thieves and where would we be if we got back to the car and found the bike rack gone? But the thought of taking off and putting this monstrosity back on each time we go biking is not worth it. The QuickBack was a replacement for an Allen rack the straps on which failed and the bikes fell to the ground as we drove.
