Favorite Trail:
Any from Königstuhl
Duration Product Used:
Less than 1 month
Price Paid:
$90.00
Purchased At:
AAFES
Strengths:
-Price for being a hitch rack.
-Hold 2 bikes pretty securely.
-You can lock the rack to the vehicle, and bikes to the rack.
-Good clearance from ground.
-Fold down to get to rear of vehicle.
Weaknesses:
-Rack sways from side to side and front to back alot.
-Doesn't fit a 2" like it should. Very loose, a big part of the reason it sways. The plastic "block" that converts it to a 2" is just little to small. So whenever I use it I wedge small sticks and stuff into the hitch to take up the space (helps for short trips).
-Another part of the sway is from the hinges and bolts.
-The rubber grips rip easily when trying to tighten the velcro strap around the bike.
-I cannot use my hitch lock (need to use seperate chain/cable lock.
Similar Products Used:
a trunk mounted single bike rack. Doesnt work with the 1st aid kit of the Nissan Xterra.
Bike Setup:
2000 Diamondback X2(don't kow much else, just started biking)
Bottom Line:
I use it with an Xterra, and the bikes come close to hitting the back of the truck. Use with cars might be alot better.
This was basically my only choice without ordering one online because I wanted a hitch mounted rack, and its an American vehicle(hitch), in a European country.
Decent price for a hitch mounted bike rack.
I recommend just spending a few more $$ and getting a better one.
