Favorite Trail:whitican
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:recycled cycles
Strengths:the last reveiwer pretty much summed it up. hurcan cupacity. many colors to choose from. bullet proof. it's basicly the best.
Weaknesses:loading isn't as care free as with an ortlieb. and it's hotter too. but thats it.
Similar Products Used:timbuk 2, ortlieb, basic back packs, tried everything at one time or another.
Bike Setup:salsa la raza (eno converted), heckler,95 bontrager race lite, slim chance, and a 1 speed cross check for winter.
Bottom Line:you are crazy if you even try to defend your side bag. forget about those things. stand up straight and get a backbone!

these bags feel just plain luxerious.

Date Reviewed: July 22, 2004
Favorite Trail:Reno's in Crested Butte CO
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $130.00
Purchased At:Ti Cycles, Seattle
Strengths:Bombproof construction, completely waterproof, stable, amply padded back, MASSIVE capacity, understated look, 2 shoulder straps (i.e. my back is straighter!)
Weaknesses:This model doesn't have the sexy Ferrari seatbelt buckle like the other bags, but that sucker's kinda heavy anyhow.
Unfortunately, these bags have been elevated to hipster status--first Carharts, then this. When you see overweight university students carrying them with a nalgene bottle clipped to the outside, a part of you sort of dies.
Similar Products Used:Timbuk 2
various backpacks
plastic bags from the grocery store
Bike Setup:Santa cruz blur (for long dirt rides)
Bianchi siss (single speed)
redline conquest pro (for cross racing)
1978 Miyata racing frame set up fixed (my everyday rig)
Bottom Line:This bag is incredible--I live out of it. From my hilly-@ss commute with a heavy laptop, to grocery runs, to airline carry-on, this guy has served me well. It carries great, doesn't require overly careful loading (as the one-shoulder bags do), keeps everything dry, and has a one-hitter pocket on the seam. Buy one and beat it. It's not the cheapest rig going, but it will outlast 2 or 3 timbuk 2s (even with the ballistic nylon) and give you hassle-free service.
