Travelled to Waco to visit my sister and discovered that Cameron Parks had fantastic mountain bike trails. I visited this shop to ask for a rental bike and was rewarded with a top of the line Specialized Epic for only $30 a day! They were generous with their time and help me set up the bike and even provided a trail map.

Like other reviewers have mentioned this shop is a very casual place to do business. The staff are laid back, helpful and knowledgeable and their service rates are reasonable.

Customer Service

The staff seems to understand the importance of treating people right to receive business in the future.

Retail prices are a bit much on many accesories but that's the way it is with smaller businesses that don't sell a lot of volume. If it's only a matter of saving a few dollars I'll give them my money as opposed to going somewhere else or ordering online.

Its kinda dark, dusty, smells like rubber. Its a bike shop. Small shop atmosphere...casual, NOT corporate.

Customer Service

Its been my experience that bike shop guys in general can either be really sweet, or kinda rude. Its pretty universal. Bike shops usually don't employ the cream of the crop. So, one shouldn't expect the kind of customer service that you get at Starbucks or Dillard's. One might argue that good customer service is the customer's right, but at the end of the day, if you stroll into a bike shop and act like a douche bag, they will treat you like a douche bag. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....you know. All that being said, these guys are no different. They are knowledgeable and helpful 95% of time time. Labor rates are lower than most places and I have left on more than one occasion with my bike fixed and a "don't worry about it" when I asked for the bill.

Small shop...dark,dusty,smells like rubber..like a shop should be! Good selection most of the time..More often than not you will have to place a special order for whatever you want.

Customer Service

Pretty standard for a bike shop...Its been my experience that bike shop employees in general are not exactly "corporate" material. Most of them don't follow the "bend over backwards" book of customer service. Bike shop guys can be really sweet or total jerks. It all depends on how you handle yourself. When you go to a bike shop you shouldn't expect the kind of customer service that you get at Starbucks, etc. That being said, these guys are bike shop guys.. They are very helpful, and friendly despite some character flaws. Shop service is damn good. Turn around on repairs is questionable sometimes.

These guys think farts are the most hilarious thing ever. They say the "F" word a lot. They like beer. Love single speeds....

Before I ever started riding, I used to go into bike shops and think the people were a little too excited about riding bikes. Well, now I see what they were so excited about. They were always friendly and extremely eager to invite someone new to try out their love of the road or trails. Well, I must say, that is the complete opposite of this place. I'm still a beginner and it takes a good 5 minutes for someone to even say hi to me much less ask me if I need any help. When I finally do get some service, they take 5 seconds to show me where the item I'm looking for is and then turn around and walk away....god forbid I should ask a question. Hopefully someone realizes a little competition would go a long way and opens up another shop in town. I know they'd have mine, and everyone I ride with's business.

I will say that the mechanic knows his stuff. Probably one of the best around.

Visited this shop pretty much weekly between 2000 and 2003. I live in another city in Texas now, but have been back half a dozen times or so since. This shop was the only game in town for serious rides, and I don't think any other shop has come along at this time. They carry Specialized, Trek, Bianchi, Orbea, and a few other brands, and have a few used models usually. Lots of gear, good atmosphere. During my time there, the mechanics were excellent.

Customer Service

My advice for any serious rider who's going to frequent this shop is 1. make friends 2. be courteous and patient. You'll get treated like the rest of the Baylor dorks for a while but then should get some preferential benefits after a while, especially if you're a committed rider. However, because this is the only real shop in town, be prepared for not-so-nice turnaround times once in a while.

I like this shop very much. In my opinion, it measures up in terms of cost, service, and riding spirit against just about all others I've frequented. I've purchased almost all my bikes through Bicycles Outback since 2000, even after I left Waco, and have sent several friends there to purchase bikes.

This shop has one of the best mechanics around and is right down the road from Cameron Park - one of the best trails in the state...if not the universe.
