Not a whole lot to choose from here. I did buy my cannondale from this shop...but the fact that they did not properly size me irritates me. They sent me out the door with a large when i really needed a medium...for more unatheletic rider this would potentially hurt them. Some might say this is my fault..but its not..the "experts" should properly fit every rider.

The service has been so so...they dont seem to care about return business...im getting ready to upgrade my bike and wont be going here.

Overall friendly shop with nice drool factor and entry level bikes. Generally high expertise buuut...

Customer Service

Employees come and go and there will always be bad apples who give a shop a bad name but when an owner gives bad service, that's a different story.

I am an easy going customer and consider myself easily pleased but after I dropped $4,500 on a bike the last bit of good service I got was the hand shake as I left the store.
Aside from a couple of mistakes made in assembling the bike I also had a warranty issue and to be fair I got the part replaced - albeit with a 2nd hand part. While putting the 'new' part on my bike the owner made a string of condescending comments alluding to me not taking care of the bike and failing to work out something was loose. When it was clear it was a warranty issue I got no apology. Worse still was his arrogant attitude when he found one of the chain rings on back to front, and made me pay for another one. I have held my tongue until now but last night when replacing all the rings I found absolute proof that the original came from that shop back to front.

Wake up guys, you could be the best.
"The customer is always right" Well maybe not but "The owner is always right" is a mission statement you guys (guy) should review.

Still the only 'green' commercial building in Asheville. The best overall shop in Asheville. The most lines of any shop & great turnaround on service!

Customer Service

Excellent! Somebody will greet you and help every time you walk in the door! Not intended to be a self-serve environment. Talk to the employees, ask questions, learn the products, and make an educated purchase.

Two Serotta qualified fit professionals on staff and a dedicated fit studio.

Without a doubt the best wheelbuilder in the area on staff!

Show me a shop where the owners are liked by everyone and I'll show you a shop where you don't meet the owner. Matt & Eric put themselves out there! They support racing, commuting, and recreational riding more than any shop in western North Carolina. The shop is staffed by adults with families and kids, not teens working a summer job. BioWheels is not about flying under the radar and just thinking about profits. A true community bike shop. BioWheels is constantly evolving and is the future of the "bike shop".

Support your local economy!

Green built businesses deserve support, they've made the investment in the world's future, consumers have to acnknowledge this investment by frequenting the business. That aside, I think this is the best shop in the area for selection, service, and atmosphere. I am an extremely picky person and it took me a year or more to realize how much better this shop could be. Take your time to talk to the people working there and you'll be suprised by their depth of knowledge.

Customer Service

I feel's it necesarry for me to say that yes, I now race for this shop and am friends with the people who work there and own the shop. That said, I can make direct comments about the negative review further down. I know the reviewer and was there when he got the unsatisfactory CS. I agree, mtnfir could've been treated with more respect. His concerns were reviewed by me and another person (GG, for those who know those initials) with the person involved. He truly wishes he'd acted differently that day. I'd invite mtnfir and anybody else who had a past negative experience to go to the new shopand give it a second chance- I think you'd be more than pleasantly suprised.

New location in Downtown Asheville with the lowest greenhouse footprint in the business! (Did I mention a brewery is next door?)

Customer Service

Career staff - everyone can answer questions with detail and expertise - and without too much "whatever" slacker attitude. I don't know how Ian stays so cheerful after freeing so many rust-seized Diamond Backs from the commuter clients. Kris is a patient father so he's good for family bike purchases. Grabowski is quiet, but an encyclopedia if you ask him for some technical advice. Erik is trained for the "fit" and has a good eye for the level and plumb bob.

More skills with custom wheel builds than people realize.

Negatives are nothing significant: music can be loud sometimes (guess I'm getting old); odd road parts have to be ordered, etc.

I hate that someone had a bad expereice, but this shop is top notch in my opinion! These guys work hard to keep in stock a good selection of whatever your bike needs are. I've never had any trouble finding what I need. Plus this being an Eco Friendly shop makes me a lot more willing to spend my money there. They work hard to encourage a better way of living. I have bought 2 bikes there with great results both times. I will buy future bikes there as well.

Customer Service

All the guys at the shop are great! They are very knowledgable with the wrench too. I've had to replace parts that were under warranty. They were more than willing to handle the transaction. These guys are very reasonable and try to make riding a pleasure! I wouldn't ride as much if I didn't have such a sweet ride! Thanks guys!

I have lived all over the country. Biowheels is by far the best bike shop I have ever been to. Very friendly staff, know all about riding in the area, and are not pushing unwanted products. In this area in particular there are many great riders, some shops employ them. The other shops have made me feel like they were doing me a favor by waiting on me and taking my money. Biowheels staff make sure my bikes are in perfect running order. They are incredibly supportive of all riders. There is not another shop like this one. Do yourself a favor and go spend some time there.

Biowheels rocks on so many levels! They have built an environmentally friendly store from the ground up including solar panels and soy based paint. They participate in community activism by creating opportunities for trail work, attending city council meetings, getting petitions signed, and leading events and group rides that get people of all levels and interests interested, excited and involved in cycling. They also have the best bikes in town. When I can afford an Ellsworth, its what I will ride, for now I have a Jamis XCR -expert mountain bike in bassboat blue, and I love it - it's fast, light and affordable. Biowheels stands behind their products with lifetime service warranties on their bikes. They also have a truly fun race team that is open to folks who love to ride and to promote riding in the community.

This us the best shop in Asheville. I am so thankful to them for caring about their community, for all the bicycyle advocacy they do and for becoming the first green business in Asheville--solar panels and all!

Customer Service

These folks rock! I have never had a bad expereince with them, they have always been extremely honest and friendly. I know both of the owners personally, I have been a customer for many years. I can say with 100% faith, these guys would never knowingly do anyone wrong and are about as ungreedy as they come.

The new shop rocks. Probably one of the best selections in Asheville. The two shop owners remind me of Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde. One will do you right, the other won't

Customer Service

I try very hard to support the locals, unfortunately this shop made it impossible for me to support them, because they failed to support me on a fairly serious issue. I bought a decent entry level Jamis Dakkar from them several years ago at a good price. After riding it several times, my front wheel would lock up and throw me over. After dealing with this several times, I brought it back to them. They told me I was too big for the entry level fork that came with it. THeir solution was to give me a 25 dollar break on a 400 dollar shock. The bike cost 700. Oh, they would install it free. Come to find out, the fork had a recall on it. How do I know? Because I called up Answer and spoke to one of their peeps. This was a phone call the shop should have made.
The liability issue of this alone should have made them jump to rectify the situation, unfortunately it was very clear that they only wanted to sell me more stuff.
Unethical, unsafe and uncaring.

In addition to my poor experience, I have heard of numerous others such as charging a customer for disassembly, shipping and reasembly on a brand new bike when the frame had a recall on it.
