Landry's - Bikeshops, Norwood, Massachusetts

Landry's - Bikeshops, Norwood, Massachusetts

DESCRIPTION

Shop has a good selection of mtb and road gear. As far as service goes though, I would not recommend it. I do most work on my bike myself, but have come in here when I need some help or are strapped for time. I understand that shops need to make $ but their rates are outrageous when the do something that takes 5-10 minutes. Whereas other shops would charge $5- $10, Landry's charges $20+. When a shop helps me out, I always make sure I support them by at least buying some GU, breakpads, etc. But with the rates these guys charge, I can't do it. Plenty of other good options out there.

Strength:

location on the 790 Worcester Street

Weakness:

came to the shop, asked for tektro brake pads and to see what 28.6mm seat posts they have. was told that they cannot show seat posts without me bringing in the whole bike. asked again, was told it is not the policy. so,went home and ordered one from amazon, no biggie, but, will never go to that place again. and, was told they have no brake pads and do not know what tektro is. as it was communicated by 16-17 yr old teen whom they empoy - may be indeed he did not know, but, due to covid whole interaction took 35 minutes with me baking in the sun while teen was going in and out of the store and hanging inside - as i could see him there, relaxing. left me quite pissed in the end.

I have been going to landrys for the past few years now. I love there stores for a few reasons. They have always been abl to find a solution to my problems. Also the few times I have purchased a bike I feel like I received the right one for me. Not the bike that some salesmen will try to push on you. Give them a shot, there prices can be a little more than other places, but you will be greeted with a warm feeling. I know I do.

Customer Service

I love there service, maybe thats because a dérailleur is my worst nightmare. I just know when I pick my bike up I can go home that day and ride without worrying.

Horrible, horrible shop. I've been riding for over 15 years. This place charges way too much, has next to no knowledge about bikes at all and seems to pride themselves on carrying the crappiest components ever.

Customer Service

They suck. Plain and simple. I brought my bike in to have the crank swapped out. I only took it to them because I asked if they could have it done that day, I had a competition I needed to practice for, and they said yes. Well, they hadn't even touched the bike at closing. It wasn't done until closing of next day. I made peace with the price they were charging me because it could be done in 24 hours, well it took 48, so my peace of mind went right out the window. I rode the bike for all of five minutes when I realized my chain went slack. I went to correct the issue with the integrated chain tensioners in my frame, and found one was completely missing. Landry's had broken my bike, and then screwed one of the tensioners all the way back into the frame to hide it from me. I called immediately when they opened the next day, to which I was told the "mechanic" who worked on my bike was out sick and I would be contacted the next day. Three days went by and this kid never showed up. I called evevry day and every day I was told that nobody had a clue what an integrated chain tensioner was and I had to wait. Finally on the third or fourth day the person I talked to told me to bring the

bike back and they would order the part. No offer of a refund for the ridiculous price i paid to have them break my brand new bike. Oh and the reason it took two days instead of the promised one? The kid told me he "NEEDED A BIGGER HAMMER" Get a crank pull and don't touch my bike with a hammer you clod. Don't take your bike to any landry's as I have found them all to be this ill equipped, and unknowledgeable.

I ride both mountain and road and found the Natick shop not the sharpest knifes . . . plus they attempted fix a friend's older Moto (road) and installed lousy parts (never called to inquire). He received junk tires and a cheapo Shimano derailleur (7.00 on Amazon) and charged $35 plus $$$ for labor. When approached, they were willing to correct, but as an substantial up-charge. Bought my first bike at their Framingham store in 1985 and the shop was pretty decent. I guess those days are gone. I do my own work; if not, I go to Harris in Newton.

Mechanics seemed like they knew pleanty about bikes and repairs but this shop CHARGES TOO MUCH!!!

Customer Service

Customer service seemed poor. They Charged $44 to replace 2 broken spokes and true a wheel. This would have only been $10 elsewhere. The turnaround was fast but I will NOT BE BACK!!!

They feel its ok to overcharge YUPies. Most riders will not pay through the nose. Do your self a favor and don't bother.

This is for the Boston shop. They seem really nice, but they seem unable to perform basic maitenance. Had difficulty taking a single-speed freewheel off an old hub, before telling me that it was impossible and that I had to purchase a new wheel. Ran to one of their competitors and they had it off in less than five minutes. Bikes look nice and all but all their products are pricey and their selection of bikes is limited to two or three major brands. It became pretty clear after my first couple of trips that I knew much more about bikes than even their "experienced" mechanic.

Customer Service

Nice guys, no pressure, let me pick up stuff and look at it without hassling me.

This is for the Wesboro shop.
Good shop with lots of decent selection and some OK parts, but not much high end selection on site. Have to order a pretty much any thing you want/need

Customer Service

.
I used to go here every week about 5 years ago because the service and the people were great. I could just shoot the breeze with the mechanics and the manager while I was looking around. Charged me internet prices for parts and usually got a break on install cost as well.
Now, they look up every little thing in a book for price, install, everything.

Very closed off personel. If you in to just look around, they do make you feel unwanter. It is almost if you don't ride with them, your not worth their time. Too bad, used to be a great shop to bring my bike to and just window shop. Oh well.

Wouldn't even answer siple questions w/o me bringing in my bike. their knowledge seems to be limited to what they have not what the industry supplies.

This review is for Landry's of Norwood. The shop was nice. Very clean. Great displays. The maintence area in the back was very clean. I saw an overall large and diverse selection of bikes. They also had lefovers for a discounted price. You might have to ask for them though.

Customer Service

I felt the customer service was great. I talked to one of the employees before I came in to make sure they had the bike I wanted. I was coming from about 30 minutes away. I was looking for a Cannondale Rush 400. And my price range was about $1,000. The employee was very helpful. He gave me a few options on bikes. Including the Rush. It was a leftover from '06. When I arrived, they brought out the Rush. They let me test ride it. Made sure it was the right fit for me. ie, style of riding and frame size. I purchased the bike. They tuned it up. Set up the front and rear suspension for me, and educated me for further adjustments I might make. It was a pleasurable experience. And I highly recomend them. They even gave me a Military discount on top of the already discounted price.

I knew a little bit about bikes to begin with. I've rode a hardtail for a while. This was my first Dual Suspension. My LBS is 10 minutes away but did not have any leftover Rush's. Even though it's about 30 minutes away, I'll be back for tune-ups and further purchases.

This review is for the Natick store. The store is big enough with a good selection of bikes. They have the basics of bags, tools, clothes, etc. The could have some more clothing. They probably don't want to be stuck with unsold clothes at season-end.

Customer Service

Unfortunately, I know more about bikes than the clerks at Landry's. That's not good because I don't know that much. If you need cookie-cutter items and current technology, they can help you. Otherwise, you'd be better off somewhere else. They couldn't tell me the fitting differences between brands, etc. I'm willing to drop $250 on shoes if I know they are the right ones for me. The clerks also seemed to be in a hurry, even when the store was not busy.
Based on my experience with the salespeople, I have never had my bike repaired at this shop. Maybe the repair shop is good. I don't know.

The store is 2 miles from my house. I drive 25 miles to Wheelworks to get the service I need. If Landry's could train their salespeople a bit, it might be worth stopping by.
