University Bicycle Center, Inc. of Tampa was a pleasant surprise! Made first visit and felt rewarded given the breadth and depth of selection; full service capabilities exhibited; and a caring, involved shop staff. Everyone was helpful and courteous. No arm twisting ..... only a sound laydown of facts to support my decision process. Staff provided recommendations based on experience when asked. In the end, I found a bike that met my needs and expectations. I look forward to future visits to UBC.

Customer Service

Very satisfied with services provided. Once I selected the bike I wanted, staff checked and fine tuned everything before I tested the product. Accessories I purchased were installed and final adjustments made based on the test ride. Really can't expect more. If this is the standard, and not the actions of a strong sales rep, then customers are treated very well by UBC.

The sales rep I dealt with was named Adam. He went the extra mile ensuring that I was able to see and side-by-side compare the products I was interested in checking. Adam, in my view, is a good example of why I find UBC a great place to do business in terms of cost, selection, and the full spectrum of services related to the product and the customer.

40 plus years old, Great selection of bike and gear, Great sales staff, Best Bike shop In Tampa hands down.

Customer Service

I walked into a sale on off road bikes. I am 6ft tall and 185 Lbs and all
I was shure of is that I wanted a 29er hardtail. I had not been on an off road bike in 20 years.
The Sales rep gave me his full attention and I left with the perfect bike for me with a perfect fitting at a great price.

Insane selection and if you don't see it ask They have more in stock. I have never seen a service department with so many parts in stock. And as fast as the new bikes change they get the newest parts so quickly! You are missing out if you don't visit or call. 15 seconds in the shop and you know they can handle it.

Customer Service

Very good people. Simply ask and you will be handled with care. Zero high pressure sales and they want to know about you to get you properly set up. I have yet to arrive and not see someone cleaning the floor and dusting! They want you to be comfortable in the store and on your bike. GO !

Unfortunately there are very few good bike shops in the entire Tampa area. Fortunately there is University Bicycle Center! Located near USF it is by far the largest bike shop in Tampa stocking a good selection of bikes and a great selection of accessories and parts.

Customer Service

Their customer service is the best. I learned this first hand when buying my latest bike. I drove all around Tampa looking for a bike shop and I made several visits to UBC. Their staff is all friendly, willing to help and very knowledgable. They all seem to love biking and talking about bikes. I ordered a Cannondale 29er and when it finally came they assembled it perfectly. Manny Jr. has more than exceeded my expectations bending over backward to make my bike buying experience a great one. (My only gripe would be that they don't stock an awful lot of 29er accessories... yet.)

I would absolutely buy my next bike there, and I would recommend this shop to anyone.

Tons of bikes on the floor. Big parts/service area.

Customer Service

I stopped at UBC as an afterthought after visiting another area bike shop that shall remain nameless *cough* cbe *cough* and had them try to sell me a bike that clearly did not even come close to fitting. When I explained to the UBC folks what I was looking for, they immediately got me hooked up with the fit kit. That pretty much sealed the deal right there. While they don't have the QBP brands on the floor (Surly in my case), they can order them.

Their main brands on the floor are Cannondale, Specialized, and Scott.

A large shop with lots of inventory. I purchased two bikes from them, mainly because they are close by and carry the brands I wanted.

Customer Service

A mixed bag of sales people. Some are friendly and knowledgeable, others act like they are doing you a favor. My last experience was when I went to pick up my second bike which cost $2000. A sales guy (who I hadn't seen before) brought it out of the back room, rolled it to the front door, rested it against the wall, pointed at it, and walked away. No offer to set it up or explain anything.

My son has used the service department several times and he is happy with their prices and work. (I do my own wrenching). He suspects the service department might be a separate business.

Big shop with plenty of selection.

Customer Service

I personally thought the service was great. I was only in there a minute or two at the most before i was approached by a sales rep named Jacob.I explained to him i was only in there to look and test ride a few bikes and that it would be a few days before i came in to make a purchase. He went over a few bikes i was interested in and let me test ride them. He did'nt try to upsale me into something i could afford which has happened in some of the other shops in the Tampa Bay area.I will be in there this week to purchase my new bike.

My parents used to buy my BMX race bikes there when i was a kid but that was 15 years ago so it's been along time since i've been there and I've seen by other reviews that some people have has problems there so I was reluctant to stop in and look but after going in there and talking to the sales rep I would have no problem recommending the shop to a friend.

Nice sized shop with a decent selection, which is a shame and waste.

Customer Service

Horrible. I swing in once a year, just to see if they have switched lines or if anything is on clearance. I think ONCE since 2001 have I walked in and immediately been given some assistance. I have been ignored many, many other times.

My latest experience was when I was wanting to try on some Specialized road shoes. They didn't have my size (that's fine, no one ever does) but when I asked a rep (after waiting to get helped for a long time) the rep informed me that they would not order the shoes. Was not given a reason, just a flat "no."

Worst large shop I have ever been to anywhere. I havent taken my bikes there for service, I'd rather take them where people dont have such attitudes.

I initially contacted UBC to do a build on my Turner 5 Spot. Art and the crew at UBC came highly recommended so I felt comfortable having them do the build. I collected parts for this build for 3 months so it's not something I was taking lightly. The service department at UBC is bigger than most bike shops, so you know they're serious about what they do. I called and spoke with Art and he was happy to explain everything and answer all my questions without hesitation. The work they did on the bike was top notch and I feel they went above and beyond the call of duty for my build. They took the time down to every last detail, which I would expect if I was buying a $5000 bike, but generally you don't see that kind of attention to detail on a custom build for what you pay. I got exactly what I was looking for, which is a professionally built bike.

Everytime I walk in this shop, I gawk at the massive inventory of bikes. High end and neighborhood bikes, they seem to have something for everyone. I am not into cruisers or road bikes so I don't know if it is across the board, but the prices on their mountain bikes are actually lower than any other shop I've been in. I recently upgraded to a Cannondale Rush and was surprised to find every bike purchased from the shop comes with 3 free tune ups and a pretty cool trade-in program.

Customer Service

These guys really took care of me. I've ridden a full suspension bike for a couple years now and never really understood the concept of sag, I always used the manual that came with my bike to adjust the PSI in my rear shock for my body weight. They took the time to show me how to adjust the shocks for different types of trail riding. I thought that was pretty cool.

So far I've had one of the free tune-ups done and was impressed with the service dept. I dropped the bike off and was riding it again the very next day. I would really recommend stopping by the shop if you are in the Tampa area, It is probably the biggest shop around.
