Absolute Bikes - Bikeshops, Flagstaff, Arizona

Absolute Bikes - Bikeshops, Flagstaff, Arizona

DESCRIPTION

Absolute is one of the best shops I ever worked for. They do it right, whatever it is they are selling. The Assembly/repair dept is TOP NOTCH, and there is an abundance of parts. This is a great retail store. They are consistantly voted the best bike shop in town for their customer service, and community service. Selling high end XC stuff is their specialty, like Moots and Titus. They actually care about the work they do and double check all work leaving the repair stand. The busniess is run in an ethical mannor. They are always rotaing stock, getting new stuff and making it a nice retail space. If you are just looking to get trail info, they will hep you too. While I was working there, I met my current wife because she came back to the shop to thank the guys for reccommending a great trail (Rock Ridge)! If on the other hand you are just coming in to shoot the sheet, they might only talk to you for a few minutes, as they are generally BUSY and have stuff to do. Its not one of those store where they hire lots of extra help just to give people jobs. The people working there are professionals, and many are lifers (if you don't know what I mean, you need to spend more time in shops). To them, bikes are serious fun, and their livlihood. These are the people who run/own/work for Absolute. What does this mean to you? Its a no BS store that will take care of your needs and wants in a professional manner.

I've been to Absolute a handful of times in Flagstaff. They have a good selection of stuff, probably more in the store than anyone else. It's a fun store to window shop at, it's over priced though.

Customer Service

Every time I go to Absolute I'm either I'm treated like I know absolutely nothing about bikes or I'm ignored completely. The times I've gone in to ask advice about fixing something on my bike the mechanics talk down to me like I'm just some local hick that doesn't know a thing. Their customer service is terrible. The only reason I gave them more that a one on technical expertise is if they talk down to people like they do to me they must know something. I've never taken my bike to them because of the way that I'm treated when I go there.

Absolute may have a better selection of accessories than any other store in Flagstaff, but I'd rather order my stuff through another store. I'll pay less and be treated like I matter. If you want to pay a half way decent price and have the staff at the store actually take some time to help you find what is going to work best for you on your bike then Absolute is absolutely not the store for you.

I live 2 hrs from both the Flagstaff and Sedona locations and shop at both. The Flag store is much bigger with more parts etc. It is by far the best shop in Flag, not that the others are bad though. They have the widest selection of sizes and models I've seen in AZ.

The Sedona store is where I bought my last bike and they had everything I needed even though it is a smaller space. Also lower sales tax. Very knowledgeable and pleasant staff at both stores. No attitudes in sight.

Customer Service

Absolutely (pun intended) professional treatment at both locations by people who know what they are selling and fixing. Even though I made it clear that I was just shopping and they were very busy they spent a great deal of time answering all my questions and making me feel like I was the only person in the store. I did not buy that day and I could have bought the same bike 20 miles from home but made the trip to back Sedona because of the way I was treated while "just shopping".

I had decided on the model of bike I wanted but couldn't find a shop that had an XL frame for me to try and compare to the L. Other shops said they would order it but I'd have to give a deposit on it. Absolute in Sedona just said over the phone that they would order one for me to try no obligation. Within 3 days they had it built and ready to try.

When I arrived to test ride I still wasn't sure I would buy and they didn't push me at all. While test riding and making adjustments they treated my family well including tuning my wife's bike(no charge), helping figure out the right size frame for my 12 year old daughter, (even though we said we were looking for a used bike), and they threw in some other extra goodies no charge. While I was discussing the sale my daughter asked if they would throw in the 2X life sized mounted poster of Andy Schleck on the wall and they did. She will be a customer for life! These guys know their stuff and know how to treat customers.

Well like the dime a dozen shops across the US this is like no other shop typically boring with no imagination so blah. You know their bikes are not moving when there is dust on them same goes for the inventory on the floor. Amazing how different stores are for the best one I have seen anywhere in the US is WebCyclery in Bend, Oregon. Too much inventory with so many bike shops they remind me of car dealerships no imagination. I could be in California and this would look the same that carries Specialized, Giant, Pivot! Boring!! Such potential and yet none put to good use to inspire those who come in.

Customer Service

What seems to be lacking in bike shops these days is the engagement with customers where they actually pertinent questions such as:

1. How long have you been riding?

2. What kind of rider are you?

3. What is your budget in getting a bike??

4. What is your knowledge on bikes?

Seems like so many shop employees have been told to read a script and so they do not ask the questions that are necessary to find out what is needed to secure a "relationship" between the customer and the bike shop employees!! I think perhaps only 2 bike shops in the 48 states I have been to have actually asked these questions and they were WebCyclery in Bend, Oregon and Fat Tire Bikes in Portland, Oregon!!

The management or ownership need to go to customer service school and take some classes in "Customer Psychology"!!

When I used to sell cars the customers always appreciated the fact that I did not treat them like an uneducated customer or someone who really did not know anything about cars period. I asked these questions but mainly due to a class I took while selling Volvo cars and the class was "customer psychology" and after this our sales soared. Perhaps something the bike shops could do?

We all know that the economy is struggling and what is a shame these days is that there are countless bikes shops supporting huge manufacturers such as Giant, Specialized, Trek, GT, Mongoose, Haro etc all made over in Taiwan. These ships pollute the oceans and there have to be massive cargo ships traveling to and from Asia to deliver these bikes. US bike companies such as Intense, Pivot, Foes, Ventana, Titus and others are doing the right thing and we, in the US, should be supporting these bike shops not the ones overseas who are focused purely on $$$$! I used to ride GT (not anymore) then I rode a Yeti (not anymore) really liked Niner but they too are Made in Taiwan.

Rad shop with a large selection of bikes of ALL kinds. Mountain, road, kiddy, old fart, any kind of bike you need, they probably have it. They also carry a wide selection of accessories as well, from downhill helmets to bike trailers, and anything in between.

Customer Service

Always greeted with a friendly "hello" when I walk through the door. The employees are nice and eager to help out and offer any assistance one might need. They know their stuff, weather it be mountain or road, and are very helpful. Great staff, I love that shop.

I will 100% be purchasing from Absolute in the future. I always feel comfortable in the shop, and the customer service is amazing. It is hard for me to give 5 flamers all the way across most of the time, but not today. This is my favorite bike shop.

Great location, right at the most popular trailhead for mountain biking! Lots of parking. These guys really know their stuff as they've been in the business so long. They have lots of parts, accessories, and general stuff but they are a little light on clothing.

Customer Service

Excellent! Prompt in shop service, they call you when your special order is in or when your repairs are done. Very professional. If they don't have it in the shop they can always have something brought down from the main Flagstaff store in a day or so. Steve is also a great salesman, he can find the right bike for you, he seems to really enjoy it!

Absolute Bikes in Sedona/Village of Oakcreek is amongst the most professionally run locations that I have had the pleasure to visit. I met the manager Steve of this store one afternoon when I was having some problems with my Mountain Bike. I have to tell you about Steve we ended up talking about Mountain Biking and the various manufacturers Absolute represented. Steve is so thorough taking time explain everything that I needed to know about selecting a bike, well to make a long story shorter we ended up purchasing three Specialized Mountain bikes from him. If you are in our area and need to rent a bike or if you need bike maintenance go see Steve at Absolute Bikes in the Sedona/Villeage of Oakcreek 928-284-1242... Thanks Steve
