The name evokes many different images for many different people. Upon hearing the words “Santa Cruz,” some lapse into reveries of surf pounded shorelines and the bark of seals at the wharf. Others might think of sunlight filtering through a distant redwood canopy. Tendrils of fog rolling across artichoke fields. Panhandlers downtown. Skateboards. Rickety wooden rollercoasters. The worst place to commute to or from, ever.
For us, Santa Cruz is not only where this company is based, it’s where we live, and it’s where we ride. From the sandstone bluffs at the north end of the county, to the redwood duff trails at the south end and all the poison oak laced, not quite secret enough places in between, these trails are our home. There are far more practical and economically sensible locations for a bike company, places more conducive to business, towns with something like a realistic cost of living, but we’re happy right where we are, in this old cannery building four blocks from the beach. We wouldn’t trade it for the world.
