Narrow but LONG - 144mm inc clamps.
Clamp design intended to leave the worst possible bruises when some part of you (knee etc) hits them.

The WTB MotoTec is promoted as being for EITHER people with small hands, OR someone that likes narrow grips for control.
I fall into the latter category and I'm amazed at how long the grips are. They waste a good 15mm extra on the bars versus what I would call a PLENTY LONG grip. My hands are the lower end of Large, but more than Medium. I wear large gloves for everything and they are a good fit. Sometimes too small. Never too big. In fact all large bike stuff fits me well, so I am not whining abotu the length due to having tiny paws.
But wasting space is not the real problem with these grips.
The clamps seem intended to cause max pain to kneecaps at every op. You know, maybe only once every 40km you might come off on a techy bit, or have to instinctively dab so fast that your knee can hit a turned bar. The clamps on these grips have bolts/housing that stick out... Two lumps on each end of each grip making EIGHT extra places to bash something on. It's gonna happen!
Yes you can turn the clamps to face another direction. But I'd rather hit my knees on those bad boys than my teeth/face etc! As there are two bulges at each end of each grip, it is impossible to put them in a position where you will never bash anything on them.
Now think about the paradox of the length. If you actually did have small hands, then you would really have grips that were waaaay too long wasting space and with it weight.
So, I guess these are for people with giant hands that love super-narrow grips and always wear knee-guards.
ODI/Lizard Skinz lock-ons have clamps that won't attempt to gouge chunks from your body and that alone IMO is a good reason to buy them in preference. Which is what I did after one too many knee bash on my 160mm 'heavy-trail' bike's turned bars climbing techy Rocky Mountain trail.

Having questioned their reason to exist, in fairness, the Mototecs can be had cheaply and do provide fine grip and lock on well. No probs w carbon bars either (Easton Monkeylite DH). So, if you happen to be one of the aforementioned giant-handed, thin grip loving, permanent knee-guard wearers, then these will do the job nicely!
I can only give 3 for value as I had to buy something else, but give it a rating just cos I can see that potentially they might be of use to someone else.
Overall. I suppose the same.
But IMO most would constantly regret them, have seriously black/blue knees half the year and wish they had ponied up for something with wiser clamps saving eight points of pain (and maybe saving some space on the bar too - and/or some weight).
Cannot recommend these due to the clamps. Sort those out and we'd have a contender. Surely someone could use a sort of 'jubilee clip'* type with only one lump on each end/clamp of each grip. That would get around patent issues with ODI and that one lump can be aimed away from the rider. Then only trees and other people/trees are in danger from the clamps and only from four points instead of eight.
*No-one can patent that now! ;) Probably couldn't anyway - but they'd try.

Grippy lots of little bumpys to grip uour hands

Not enough cusion to absorb bumps, but thats why I have a fox fork.

These grips are pretty good. I woould reccomend them.

Lock On Watersport Grips

Lock on works great, no slipping. Thin grip for those who like smaller grips. Grip is very tacky and lasts a long time. Easy to remove, adjust, and replace.

Thin grip is not very comfy. Not as light as ODI grips. Will chew holes in gloves over time.

Great grip if you like thin tacky grips. Not very comfy on long bumpy rides or very technical sections. Decent for the price and they last a long time.
