Strengths:
i will only compare 2006fox36 vanrc2 and the 2008 fox36 floatr: it is almost 500grams lighter, it has quick release locks, and is easier to maneuver. cheaper than the vanrc2. i worked 4 months really hard to buy the vanrc2. the the 2008 float is at 700dollars but the vanrc2 was almost 1000dollars
Weaknesses:
i will only compare 2006fox36 vanrc2 and the 2008 fox36 floatr: though it is only a demo ive been using for a few days, it doesnt look and feel as tough as the van rc2 (im a 187 pound rider by the way)

Bottom Line:
ive been using the 2006 fox36 vanrc2 for a year and a half and im contended. its just that my favorite bikeshop demo'd the 2008 fox 36 float r. i am one rider who loves cross country, enduro and freeride trails. though i only do small bump jumps im not sure what the new float r's capability is. at high speed in rough road, the f36 vanrc2 is a little more responsive than the float. my only dilema (check spelling) is because i am a 180 pound rider (without gear), the steep climbs here in the philippines makes me cry sometimes so weight matters in my bike. but im not sure how tough the fox36 floatr would be. but its a nice and lighter fork compared to the vanrc2 plus it has 2clicks quick release thru axle locks. so need help in deciding.
