from Vancouver, BC, Canada Date Reviewed: November 26, 2006 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Adjustability is very good. Strength and durability appears to be very good. | | Weaknesses: | Open bath oiling system tends to leave excessive residue on stanchions. Heavy. | | Similar Products Used: | Manitou Travis Intrinsic, Marzocchi Bomber 888 | | Bike Setup: | '06 Devinci Ollie, all stock except FSA FR-230 stem, VP handlebars, Thomson Elite seatpost, and Titec Amore saddle | | Bottom Line: | It's a good strong fork with great adjustability, but the open bath oiling is going to make for one messy stanchion after several days of constant riding. Maybe it's just mine. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$800.00 | | Purchased At: | on-line | | Strengths: | Nicely made.. Stiff, not too high for 200mm travel.lots of adjustments..good warranty.. | | Weaknesses: | Not that easy to work on, lots of stuff under each fork cap..I weigh 160lbs the bike 41lbs.. fork came with a bad right side damper..Marz warrantied.. At this point stock spring seem waaay to stiff. with just enough pre-load to extend the forks fully when empty(about 2 clicks).get 1" sag when I sit on the bike, they top-out constantly..ok over small stuff, big-dips, jumps..but very rough when hit rocks, erosion bars etc.. can be a problem when going fast in a hard-pack single-track, kicks you out..can mess up your cornering for the same reason..using NO compression-damping and about 16 clicks on the rebound.200cc oil.in about 500miles never used more than 155mm travel!!!!..Soft Marzocchi spring are not available for the 2006/7, am going to try 2005 soft with a short spacer.. | | Similar Products Used: | Marzocchi drop-off triples, drop-off II and Rock-Shox.. | | Bike Setup: | 2006 Haro Ext X-7, El Camino, Mavic 823, Hope-hubs, Man 6-way ..(7" travel)..TV 170mm cranks., Mallets | | Bottom Line: | Very good forks. Marzocchi doesn't seem to be able to give me any answer, although they are trying.. If you are heavier, say 180lb+.. I don't think this would be a problem. If you are lighter, this might be an issue.. Marzocchi doesn't have softer springs in the US, so they are un-available for at least the near future..and if over 210lbs, heavier springs are available.. Require some knowledge to tune.. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
