These are light and cheap for the protection they provide. I store them in my camelbak until I need them but once they're on, you hardly notice them. The mesh does breathe pretty well but will wait until summer to comment on how hot they get.

As you can see I have had them for a while and still they work great. They are the only pad I have found that has no open areas to get hit yet are still totally flexible. Mine (the earlier versions) took a little while to break in but now the new ones seem flexier from the get go.
