    Favorite Trail:French Creek State Park
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $40.00
    Purchased At:Jenson USA
Strengths:Very comfortable, full-fingered for protection, good durability, best looking gloves around, snot wiper on thumb is priceless
Weaknesses:pricey (most good gear is), tend to get hot, thumbs were tight at first
Similar Products Used:Pearl Izumi and Giant cheapos
Bike Setup:Cannondale Rush, Oury lock-ons...that is about all that is relavent here
Bottom Line:I've used these for a year now and they are still in great shape. Others have had problems with the stitching coming apart, but I have not seen that with Oury grips. Wash them every couple weeks and they are good to go.

When I first got the gloves, the thumbs were too tight, causing some numbness. I let them break in and mold a bit and now they fit ummm...like a glove. Oh yeah they get warm, but that is generally the drawback of a durable full-fingered glove.

Bottom line is I've crashed numerous times on logs and rocks and such, gouging up legs and arms, but my hands haven't caught a scratch.

Bike Setup:2006 Trance 1. ODI Rogue grips.
Bottom Line:This is a review for the 2007 glove. In less than 2months the stitching has worn away to nothingness and the gloves are falling apart at the middle of the palm next to the evo padding. It's such a pity as I love the feel and fit of this glove - it's the best I've tried. I reckon it's a design problem. All of my old gloves show wear at the same part of the palm, but none have stitching running across this area excluding the sidewinder. I reckon my grippy ODI grips may be a factor in wear and another reviewer has highlighted this too.

Very disappointing. I can't afford to swap out gloves every 2months!

Strengths:They were on sale. The reinforced palm might be good, that's actually where I have destroyed Sidewinders in the past.
Weaknesses:What happened? These are 2005 models and the plastic knuckle ribs have almost all fallen off, they were glued on and not very well. The palm is almost worn through and the padding on the top is kinda sparse. Not sure if it would hold up, but I haven't had a big wreck in a while, so I have no idea. I have had a few sidewinders and these are the worst. Actually, my 99 pair lasted the longest...
Similar Products Used:Other Sidewinders, Digits, etc. Oh I have some Inclines for my road bike.
Bike Setup:Not really relevant. A short travel DH/FR bike.
    Bottom Line:Disappointment.

I didn't really ride much in the year I owned these, I was kinda burnt out by injury and stress (I'm very busy). Anyway, I ruined a pair of other Sidewinders in a DJ accident (palms gone). So these were on sale (the color was kinda weak: black/red). They suck, I mean I can't believe they are fox gloves. The rubber mesh on the outside of the lower palm might actually prevent the kind of wear I have incurred in the past, but the rest is actively falling apart. I maybe have 60 hours in them and if I see a better glove on sale, they are going to be used for yard work.

They aren't horrible, I have learned that ODI Ruffian grips kind of file away at palms... a few decent drops and you can feel the palm leather wearing away.

Strengths:Nothing, these gloves (2004) are just falling apart everywhere.
Weaknesses:Everything, stitching is coming loose in the velcro straps and gussets, all the rubber is peeling off and the silicon pads wore off after the first ride. Why did they even go with this design when the previous year's gloves had the fingertips actually made with sticky material that doesn't come off after one ride. Absolutely useless. My buddy's got his from like 02 or 03 and his have outlasted mine. I bought these on his suggestion but boy has Fox's quality in gloves gone downhill...
Similar Products Used:Race Face XC, Race Face DH
    Bike Setup:Norco Shore
Bottom Line:If you can get your hands on previous year models then fire away captain, if not, go buy some other gloves. For their most expensive glove, I would have thought that Fox would have given you something decent, but my gloves are absolute crap.

Strengths:Looks great, function, fit, style, price and Fox quality.
Weaknesses:Sometime between 1.0-1.5yrs of use the cloth on the thumb where it connects to the rest of the glove has discoloured.
From black to brown, small area about the size of a quarter.
The velcro closure (last 20%) no-longer grips the velcro on the back of the glove.
Similar Products Used:1997 Answer Stylus, 2002 Fox Static, 2002 Troy Lee Designs SE.
Bike Setup:2001 Trek Fuel 90 Disk, 1996 GT Ricochet.
Bottom Line:I still wear these gloves today for both day and night bike rides. They are the next best in lasting quality to my 1997 Answer Stylus gloves. I ordered these in Nov. 2003 online after a night time crash when I chewed up the left Troy Lee Design glove as my left arm was under me as I was sliding on asphalt.
Bottom Line: Excellent Fox gloves, last 20% of velcro no-longer grips and with more day time rides in 2005 then in 2004 the cloth on both thumbs have discoloured from black to brown.

Strengths:Has nice rubber finger tips looks pretty cool.
Weaknesses:Is now a cheap version of it's former self. Velcro is glued onto strap instead of stiched, material is thinner.
    Similar Products Used:AXO Descend
Bottom Line:Bottom line is that this newest version 2004+ glove (made in China) is a horrible version of it's earlier model. The cool rubber white stripes on the back of the hand are peeling off on the 1st ride, the fabric is cheaper and wears out very fast, but my worst issue is that the Velcro on the straps is only glued onto the strap unlike previous years where it was also stiched. Because of this glued only velcro it peels right of the strap after 1 washing.

If you like the previous sidewinder gloves, these are nothing like those. I even went and bought another pair to see if maybe it was just the pair I bought but unfortunately no dice. I am going back to AXO or something else.....

Strengths:Very durable, comfortable glove. Easy on easy off. Rubber finger tips are very nice and the rubber guards on the outside of the fingers have saved the skin on my fingers many times. Handles palm plants on pavement and trails very well. Very cool styling as well. By far the best glove purchase I have ever made.
Weaknesses:They look so good that other people try to steel them. On my second pair in 5 yrs cause of theft. Price is a little on the high side.

Strengths:tough, even that they're light they have excellent padding and grip, and the lil rubber thing at the fingertips helps with the brake levers. and they're so easy to get them off!! and they also have this towel like stuff behind the thimb so you can get rid of the sweat on ur forehead. cool looking too.
Weaknesses:falling, but gloves are not made for falls are they? i falled once and the seam that joins the leather of the palm to the lycra at the side of the fingers didnt make it but it was an easy fix and it was only a lil hole at the side of my index and middle fingers, no big deal.

Bottom Line:well, some ppl say that i use too much glove for riding in the city, but it's a really cool glove to use with soft compund rubber grips and i care a lot for my hands and even thou i always have cuts and i use them a lot so thats why i needed protection on them. i also used them once to cout some lumber with an ax and i have no complains on them. i need new ones cuz ive seen a tiny hole on the leather now which i guess is gonna become bigger with time

    Strengths:-Look Awesome.
    -Great Grip
    -Durable (So Far)
    -Good ventilation
    Weaknesses:-Minimal Padding
Bottom Line:These are great gloves. Not only do they look awesome, they are very functional. The rubber strips on the index and middle fingers provide extra grip when breaking and shifting. My only complaint however is the lack of padding between the top of the rubber panel on the back of the glove and the backs of my knuckles. After wearing the gloves for an extened period of time, an indentation appears on the back of my hand from it digging in. Otherwise, these are excellent gloves. I gave them four chilis only because I think comfort is the most important aspect of a glove and these aren't the most comfortable I've ever worn. Everything else about them is great.

They are Fox - they're not the cheapest but they've been making gear for eons and it shows. I couldn't believe how well this glove stood up to motocrossing. My friends got sick of hearing about how long the gloves were lasting. Today's new makers would think it is a bad thing for gloves to last a long time. Bottom Line:A great glove for overall mountain bike use (cross country and adventure racing). It's light, comfortable and looks good. I'd opt for a more protective glove for serious freeride, hucking or downhill rides though. While this does provide ok protection, the padding in the back of the glove is minimal although sufficient for a not too nasty get-off. Feel is very good and grip is excellent. No sweaty palms, in fact, they are cooler than my road bike 1/2 finger gloves.
