beacause this is probably the best hardtail you could build today in 2005 with the exception that there is probably a more expensive frame, but that doesnt mean its better, it is perfect for hammering DH/ single track/jumping, and even occasional freeride and its pretty light for riding up to the top-What more do you want? -Dan
